Even before the “Ice Bucket” challenge rang out across social media, my husband and I were wondering what organization we could ride our bicycles in support of during the week of Sept. 6 – 12.  Many great causes ran through our minds and then the “ice bucket” challenge started up and we had our answer.  NOT because we are avoiding the ice bucket challenge (fingers crossed behind back).

Our friend Don Stewart who is the sweetest person we have ever met is suffering from ALS and we have watched him over the last 3 years losing his ability to play the banjo and coping with the disease.  His wife, who is also one of the most caring and loving people you could know has faced the challenges of taking care of her husband and watching the disease progress with great courage!

It is this reason we are riding in honor of our friend, Don Stewart.  Our event (we are the sole riders) will be Sept. 6th – 12th and we will ride about 260 miles from Clinton, MO to Grafton, IL on the Katy Trail.  If you would like to donate and help us reach our goal, you can do so by clicking here:  Bike for ALS Cure in Honor of Don Stewart.

ALS is a horrible disease.  Wouldn’t it be wonderful to find a cure?!
