We hope that you join us more than just today as we journey forward in our lives. My husband and I were married in 1986 and have enjoyed 33 years of doing everything together. Rather than getting mushy and going into all of the amusing details of how we met, let me just say in this first blog post that I can honestly say we have been more active in so many different activities than the normal family. First there was scuba diving, which I learned to do before we were even married during our whirlwind courtship of 6 months. Then followed fishing, boating, skiing, camping, canoeing, fur trader reenactment, four wheeling, bike riding, metal detecting, hiking, many types of hunting and now the RV lifestyle.
The old saying, "If you can't lick them, join them", says it all. Had I not become involved, I would have been a fishing, hunting, four wheeling, bike riding, metal detecting widow. I mean, it's all for love right? I asked my husband this same question when we recently had our wedding rings tattooed on our fingers. My first and last tattoo...
Not too long after getting these tattoos we purchased our first "new to us" travel trailer, a 2004 Arctic Fox 22H four seasons. What seemed like an eternity to my husband who sacrificed a lot of blood, sweat and tears to get it camping ready, (preparation video to come) we finally enjoyed our first inaugural weekend recently at Rend Lake North Sandusky campground in Illinois. (another post to come) This was a glorious weekend for us because everything worked on the camper, the campsite was perfect and Rend Lake has an awesome bike trail! We will be going on a lot more adventures in the coming months and will share our activities with you along the way.
One thing we have done over the last 15 years (especially) is video our adventures and shared them on our youtube page. In the future we will have a youtube page just for "Mildly Retired", but for now, you can go and check out any of our past videos here.
It helps greatly to be best friends with your husband when you undertake new activities. This new chapter of our lives of being "Mildy Retired" will be a continuation of our adventures. Won't you come along? We hope you enjoy them along with us!
