Katy Trail Ride Day 3

This was our longest day clocking 55 miles with two detours because of 2 bridges being replaced on the trail. Started out around 7:00 am and when we got out on the trail we realized we had left our swimsuits in the dryer at the hotel. Now y’all are thinking…what a couple of airheads and you would be right! It was pretty uneventful until the 1st detour. OMG! As soon as we left the trail onto Hwy K at McBaine there were HUGE STEEP hills but it had a bike lane. I ended up walking my bike plus the 30 extra pounds of luggage to the top of several hills. Brian cycled up every one of them with only one minor problem that he described in this video: http://youtu.be/TTHTUUFsGe0 Just about when we thought the heat would get the best of us we came across a little oasis: http://youtu.be/rVPUBkSVjHY When we arrived in Jeff City and went up their ped path to the bridge we were greeted with more steep roads to the hotel. It was a good leg workout but only helped us grow in more ways than one. We were just thanking God for no knee pain and decent weather. Here’s a short video of riding through the tunnel in Rocheport (You’ll hear Brian’s radio in the background): http://youtu.be/_v6Weqc0rfg
